On the instruction from Lord Carrington, we are pleased to invite offers for the sale of his harvest-ready 2026 standing crop of well-grown maize. Important to the vendor is the price, the tidiness of the harvest team and their ability to clear the crop before the 21st October. The crop of maize is ready for harvest and the expected harvest date 10th October 2026.

    THE SALE INFORMATION

    The crops were later drilled on 26th & 27th May at 2.5units/ha with Elsoms’ Hagrid AD Maize for its huge cob size and it has been fortunate that the late summer rains have helped the crop take up the placed fertiliser. 100Li/ha of N was applied into the seed bed, and then a summer application of either 11-37-0 or 10-33-0 was later applied. The crop was still green (11.09.2026)

    The crop is available for inspection at all reasonable times by telephoning the office at Will Barker & Co.

    SITUATION

    The Maize has been grown in the village of Deeping St Nicholas, approximately 7 miles southwest of Spalding, 10 miles southeast of Bourne and 13 miles north of the City of Peterborough.

    MAIZE CROP FOR SALE BY INFORMAL TENDER

    Tenders should be submitted on the attached Tender Form on or before the Tender Date in an envelope clearly marked “Maize Tender” in the top left-hand corner and either posted or delivered to the Agent’s Sleaford Office. Tenderer’s attention is drawn to the notes and guidance given at the bottom of the Tender Form.

    Tender Date: Wednesday 30th September no later than 12 noon.

    TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    1. The successful purchaser must organise, harvest and haul the Maize crop at their own expense and
    remove all crops no later than 21st October 2026.
    2. Storage Clamp area, a neighbour has a grassfield which maybe suitable for a Maize clamp and can be
    rented by separate negotiations until 6
    th April 2027. Further details from the agent
    3. The purchaser of the crop is liable for keeping the roads clean and safe during harvest.
    4. The successful purchaser(s) must pay the full accepted tender price to Will Barker and Co’s client Account
    within 10 days of the acceptance of their offer.
    5. The Agents will issue a crop sale invoice on accepting the offer.
    6. The crop purchaser will give the former vendors as much notice as possible of their intended harvest
    date.
    7. Purchasers should arrange their own crop insurance from the purchase date. The vendor accepts no
    liability for any damage which may occur to the crop once purchased.
    8. The vendor does not commit themselves to accept either the highest nor indeed any tender.
    9. If the Purchase has not harvest the crop before 1st November then the ownership of the crop reverts to
    the vendor
